The last thing you want to happen is to wake up on a cold morning, get out of your warm bed, and walk into a cold bathroom. Below are two different ways you can warm things up so you are much more comfortable when walking into your bathroom.
Radiant Floor Heating
The first thing that will feel cold when you walk into the bathroom is the floor and your feet. To take care of this problem, you can install radiant floor heating. Traditional heaters heat air and then the hot air rises, which leaves the floor cold. With radiant heat, the heated air stays on the floor instead of rising up. There are different types of radiant flooring heating, two of which are listed below.
Electric Radiant Floors
Electric radiant floors consist of electric cables that are connected to heating mats. The mats are rolled out and installed under the bathroom's subfloor. The mats are held in place using tape. This type of radiant floor heating works great for floors made of stone or ceramic. How long your bathroom will stay heated depends on the type of electric radiant heat floor system you purchase. You can control the heat via a thermostat installed on the bathroom wall.
Hydronic Radiant Floors
Hydronic radiant floor systems use water and is more cost-effective than using electricity. A pump and tubing is connected to a boiler. The contractor will install the tubing under the floor. The pump then pumps the heated water from the boiler through the tubing to provide the floor with heat. The temperature of the water can be controlled using a thermostat or water valves.
Infrared Lamp
Infrared lamps, also known as heat lamps, are generally easy to install and use incandescent bulbs that can produce infrared radiation. The bulbs are small but they are very effective at heating a room. If you stand directly under the lamp, you will feel like the sun is shining down on you.
You may want to consider hiring an electrician to install the lamps for you. They will run a power line from the bathroom to the electrical panel in your home. When you walk into the bathroom and turn on the lamp via a wall switch, the infrared lamp will quickly heat up the bathroom. This is much less expensive when compared to radiant floor heating, but you do have to wait a few minutes for the bathroom to completely heat up.
Make sure your bathroom is properly insulated so the warm air does not escape. Hire a contractor to check the insulation in the floors, walls and ceiling.
